Countdown for Change, An immersive multimedia installation at the World Health Assembly

  • Palais des nations, WHA main entrance 14 Avenue de la Paix Genf, GE, 1211 Switzerland (map)

Time: Monday–Thursday, 9:00–5:00pm CEST; Friday, 9:00-12:00pm CEST

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Essential Programme on Immunization (EPI), UNICEF and WHO are premiering "Countdown for Change," an immersive multimedia installation at the World Health Assembly in Geneva later this month.  The installation is a celebration of one of humanity’s greatest achievement – vaccines – and a key part of the Humanly Possible Campaign.

We would like to invite anyone who is attending WHA (and who has a Palais badge) to visit the installation.

The installation, structured as a clock with 12 screens representing each hour, symbolizes the global immunization journey over the past half-century. Visitors are guided through time, showcasing humanity's triumph over diseases thanks to vaccines, the challenges encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the crucial role individuals and decision makers play in sustaining immunization efforts. The installation aims to engage, inspire, and motivate World Health Assembly participants to take actions in support of immunization at the WHA and throughout 2024.

We hope that WHA delegates will join us to:

  • Experience the installation and contribute to the ‘Commitment Counter’.

  • Create content to share online why vaccines are humanity’s greatest achievement. There will be a Humanly Possible backdrop next to the installation, and we encourage participants to share their reflections of the installation with others.

  • Engage with UNICEF Youth Advocates and find out what they’re doing to help bring vaccines to their communities. UNICEF is supporting three young advocates from Benin, Nigeria and Zambia to attend WHA and they will spend some time engaging with WHA participants at the installation.
